Expectations Met

Family Camp at Somerset Beach 2017

We could feel it as soon as we stepped onto the Somerset Beach Campground. God’s presence was already there. Many people had been praying for the preparation of the 2017 Family Camp, the staff, the programs and activities, and the touch of God upon lives during the week.

Each day was filled with learning experiences as we listened to men from other countries tell of God’s work in their homes far away. The Bible study let us participate as we dug deeper into the book of Esther, coming away with information and ideas we had not thought of before.

We wandered around the roads, visiting with family and friends, sharing laughter and news and making plans. A cousin met up with us, joyful to be at camp and happy to see us again, also reminding us that she is 98 years old now. Times around the picnic table and campfire with family led to significant discussions. Family Camp describes the feeling of being part of the Free Methodist Church, all of us from different congregations yet united with God as our Father.

We went to Camp with the expectation of learning, relating to family and friends, and drawing closer to God. All of those expectations were met as we became immersed in the experience of Family Camp 2017.
