Get Your Serve On

“Good afternoon. We are a worship team from Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church. It is our desire for you to know that Jesus loves you.”  My name is Angela Klingaman, and I help lead a full worship service at the Arbor Manor Rehabilitation Center on the second Sunday of the month. This opportunity to serve the Lord and care for His people has brought indescribable joy to my life. We use our God-given talents to lift Him up and all the while He is lifting us up!

As part of 2014 Servolution, our Tuesday night inductive Bible study group volunteered to lead the Arbor Manor Service. With Pastor Husted’s guidance and instruction, we put together a full service of worship and praise: music, scripture reading, special music, readings, sermon, and communion. A FULL worship service for the residents and they really enjoy it.

When she volunteered, Melody Cotterman noted, “I was so thankful to be part of Arbor Manor Servolution today. I could feel the Spirit. I watched the people who live there, and I felt they were encouraged – what a peaceful feeling in the air.”  Esther Maddox said, “Today I attended the FMC service at Arbor Manor. It was well planned and well conducted.” Carol Morrisey describes her experience this way, “It is a privilege to minister to the frail folks at Arbor Manor. While it’s sad to see the ravages of age, and sometimes illness, it’s encouraging to share with them our eternal hope. I have been especially blessed by the smiling face of Dawn, who, although she’s been disabled for a number of years, always comes to worship in her wheelchair, beaming, and clearly resonating with the hymns and the message. The joy of the Lord is possible no matter the circumstances, and Dawn has been a sweet reminder of that for me.”

We would love to have you serve with us. There is power in the Name of Jesus, the power to bring His children together as one body no matter their stage in life or physical abilities. Over two years later, we are still serving at Arbor Manor, and we have no intention of stopping. Praise God!
