Spring Arbor Global Leadership Summit

On August 10th and 11th, close to 100 community leaders attended Willow Creek Association’s Global Leadership Summit simulcast event held here in the SAFMC chapel. Joining over 400,000 others across the world, Jackson area pastors, business executives, non-profit staff, educators, and lay people came together for a two-day, world-class leadership training experience. A variety of speakers including Bill Hybels, Sheryl Sandberg and Andy Stanley inspired attendees to recognize God’s vision for their influence and provided practical skills on how to maximize it.

Marriage Matters Jackson’s Executive Director and first-time GLS attendee, Shelby Raines, said, “I honestly was a little skeptical about how meaningful and powerful a simulcast presentation could be. But, when I could give my staff affordable professional development close to home I thought it was worth a try. All of us were blown away by how connected and included we felt with all that was going on around the world. Thanks to GLS for planning and executing a top notch program both in style and content. Thank you to our host site Spring Arbor FMC for the welcoming and classy coordination to tie us all into this event. From snacks to stage lights that echoed the theme at the live summit – I was impressed. We left feeling energized and filled up with powerful stories and nuggets of wisdom straight from the mouths of some of the world’s greatest leaders. My response ranged from chills to a couple of tears throughout the two days of the summit. Bottom line – impactful! It was just what we needed for staff professional development. I received texts of thanks into the weekend from employees thanking me for investing in taking them to the Global Leadership Summit.”

We plan to host the event next year and beyond. “We want the community to know that SAFMC is a place where they can come for Christ-centered leadership development training, that we are a resource to pastors, professionals, and educators in this community,” said Pastor Dwight Weber. Make plans to join us in 2018 for the Global Leadership Summit on August 9 and 10!
