MOFIA to the Rescue

Men of Faith in Action

Last year when we purchased a multi-unit property in Jackson, we knew that we would have to have the apartments certified by the city to make sure they were safe for the renters. The home had a current, valid certificate and so we figured that when it was time to renew we would be fine. This summer, while we were in the Jackson, we had the inspection to renew the certification and were totally shocked when we received a report with six pages of things to repair.

Spring Arbor Free Methodist’s MOFIA (Men Of Faith In Action), Community Group, heard about our situation and volunteered to use their skills to tackle these projects. With their help, we were able to get most things done on the list during our unscheduled time this past five weeks!

MOFIA graded the yard, repaired the sidewalk and driveway, fixed the siding, put up drywall, fixed electrical problems, and painted.

We are so thankful for the help. In our mission work, we are often on the giving side, helping those we serve who are in need. It was humbling to receive assistance. And yet that is what the body of Christ is supposed to be about. In Acts, we read about folks selling what they had to give to those in the church in need – believers helping other believers.

Best of all, the tenants in Unit One were impressed by what they saw. They are not believers, but the witness of MOFIA had an impact. Thank God for the help we received and the testimony it provided.
